Marie Jacobson, 79, of Bismarck, ND died January 3, 2018 at Sanford Health in Bismarck. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, January 6 ^th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bismarck with Pastor Steve Sathre officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, ND. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.  Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

Marie Ann was born August 29, 1938, on her family farm north of Mercer, ND, a daughter to Louie & Nellie (Fry) Jans. She attended rural school north of her family farm for several years. Marie married Ervin Carl Jacobson Sr. on July 14, 1959 and together they raised 7 children in their 38 years of marriage. Marie and Ervin resided in Mercer until 1970 when they moved to Bismarck. Marie worked as a waitress in several locations, most notably the VFW Club, before she decided to open her home to a daycare business. Marie loved children and offered daycare services in her home for 25 years. Following Ervin's death in 1997, Marie later retired and moved back to Mercer, ND where she enjoyed spending time visiting with her family and friends. She moved into the St. Gabriel's Community in 2013 where she resided until her passing.

Marie's family was the center point of her life, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved to camp with her family and friends and was known for "frying up a great fish dinner". Marie also loved to cook and bake and was known for the making the best homemade bread and fried chicken in the county (among many other great things). She liked to cheer on the Minnesota Vikings even though she wasn't much of a football fan, but she wanted her own team to cheer for and that is the one she picked! Marie loved playing pinochle and won several tournaments played in the Mercer Bar. Marie was greatly loved and will be missed by her many family members and friends.

She is survived by her six children, Ervin Jr. (Sandy) of Mandan, ND, James (Shonda) of Springtown, TX, Jeff (Tammy) of Lincoln, ND, Sharon (Chuck) Kaiser of Lincoln, ND, Bryan (Katie Shipley) of Liberty, MO, & DeAnn Jacobson (Shannon Holenbeck) of Mercer, ND; son-in-law, Wayne Bauer of Velva, ND; 29 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Ervin Sr.), an infant baby boy, a daughter (Loranna Bauer), one brother (Carl "Sonny" Jans), and two sisters (Ida Jans Anderson and Joy Jans).

Marie's family would like to the staff of St. Gabriel's for their loving care, and the doctors and nurses of Sanford Health for their gentle care through the years that gave Mom more time in her life to spend with her family and friends.
