Marian E. (Carr) Meyer, 94, died on Monday, October 26, 2026, in St. Alexius Hospital, Bismarck, ND. Funeral service will be held at First Lutheran Church, Washburn, ND on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at 10:00AM. Burial will be in River View Cemetery, Washburn. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Marian E. Meyer was born August 22, 1932, in McClusky, North Dakota, daughter of Elmer G. Carr and Alma (Ellingson) Carr. She was raised and educated in and near Turtle Lake, North Dakota, attending school in and around Turtle Lake. She graduated from Turtle Lake High School in 1949. She moved to Washburn, ND in 1949 and was employed at the office of McLean County Sheriff’s Department and later at the McLean County Auditor’s office.

On November 4, 1950, Marian married Eugene (Pete) Keck in Washburn, ND. They resided on a farm and had their son, Marlin (Paul). Pete then died of cancer in April of 1953. Marian and their young son continued to live in Washburn while she continued her employment at the County auditor’s office.

On January 5, 1957, she married M. Neil Meyer of Williston, North Dakota at First Lutheran church in Washburn. They resided in Williston, ND where they raised there five children together which included: Marlin Paul (1952), Bradley Neil (1957), Janet Lynn (1959), Sandra Gail (1960), and Kurt Thomas (1962). The next 30 years she was a very busy and active mother and homemaker. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and in several organizations including Friendship Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Sisterhood of PEO. She loved entertaining family during the holidays with her wonderful cooking and baking, especially her Lutefisk.

Upon Neil’s retirement from his optometric practice in 1985, they moved to Bismarck, North Dakota. Life was filled with family and travel. Marian loved her family and they in turn loved her. She will always be remembered for her true kindness to others and a faith that carried her through unbelievable times of sadness, grief, and loss. Little children (and big ones) gravitated to her for comfort and security. She listened to others and was always a source of comfort and encouragement to any questions or concerns one was having. A strong quiet faith in God. Well done good and faithful servant.
