She married Alvin Schilling at Peace Lutheran Parsonage in Turtle Lake on October 25, 1955, and lived on the family farm before moving to Turtle Lake in 1985.

While on the farm, Mandy helped Alvin with farming, milking, gardening, and raising her three children. After moving to Turtle Lake, Mandy babysat and did domestic work for many businesses and in homes. One of her favorite places to clean was at the Bank of Turtle Lake.

Mandy’s husband Alvin passed away in 2007, and she continued to work until the age of 78. She then retired in 2014 and move to Bismarck.

Mandy loved to cook and bake and whenever someone visited, the coffee was always on, and the “goodies” were always ready.

Throughout the years, Mandy was known for baking buns, bread, cookies, lefsa and krumkake. She also enjoyed sewing and reading.

Mandy is survived by daughters Valerie (Schilling) Guenthner and Colette Schilling (Darwin Reinhardt) all of Bismarck, sister and brother-in-law Alta and Hilmen Hanson, seven grandchildren, Jesse Tschaikowsky, Joshua Tschaikowsky, Calvin Kraft (Brooke) and family, Travis Kraft (Brittany) and family, Taylor (Kraft) Kirkhorn (Adam) and family, Ed Cullum and Tony Cullum. She is also survived by Tim and Barb Kraft, Don and Diane Cullum, many nieces and nephews, and other special friends.

Mandy was preceded in death by her husband Alvin of 51 years of marriage, two sons, Boyd (infant) and Kelly, son-in-law Leon Guenthner, her parents, a sister and two brothers.

Up until August 1, 2026, Mandy was feisty and fiercely independent.

Many thanks to everyone for all the help throughout the years. Also, many thanks to the nurses, CNAs, and staff at Missouri Slope – third floor Wing C for the excellent care, kindness, and comfort they provided to Mandy.
