Lyle Robinson, age 79 of Underwood, ND died Saturday, March 15, 2008 at the Turtle Lake Community Memorial Hospital following a long illness.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, March 22 at the United Methodist Church in Underwood, with the Rev. Darrel Aleson, Officiating.
At the conclusion of the service, military rites will be provided by the American Legion Victor B. Wallin Post #12 of Washburn.
A private interment will be held at Riverview Cemetery – Washburn, ND
Lyle Henry Robinson was born November 12, 1928 at Washburn, ND the son of B. Earl & Christena (Thomson) Robinson. He attended elementary school in Washburn and graduated from Washburn High School in 1946. Lyle married Lorraine Mautz on March 12, 1948 in Bottineau, ND. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1949 and was honorably discharged at the U.S. Naval Air Station in Norfolk, VA. Lyle served in the Air Force Reserve from 1956 to 1959. Lyle enjoyed stock-car racing and played a leading role in the development of the McLean County Raceway in Underwood. He worked with his father for many years at the Washburn Motor Co. before moving to Juneau, Alaska in 1967. While living in Juneau, he owned and operated his own business, E & L Auto. Lyle later returned to rural Underwood, ND where he enjoyed his retirement years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. A favorite place of Lyle's was the wood pile, where he sawed logs for his wood stove.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lorraine Robinson of Underwood, ND; two daughters, Pat Robinson of Bismarck, ND, & Vicki (Kelly) Peres of Juneau, AK; two sons, Scott (Teresa) Robinson of Juneau, AK, & Tim Robinson of Sitka, AK; nine grandchildren & twelve great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews (including a special nephew, Bob Robinson and wife Linda of Bismarck, ND); two brothers-in-law, Mylo (Marlene) Mautz & Harold (Rita) Mautz of Garrison, ND; and special friends, Clark & Claudette Ness of Washburn, ND.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, one infant son (William Earle), three brothers (Harold A., Robert E., & David G. Robinson), & one sister (Ethel Sliger).
