Lyle D. Johnson, age 61 of Underwood, ND passed away Friday, January 21, 2011 at his home following a lengthy illness.

Memorial Services will be held 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, January 25th at First Lutheran Church in Washburn with Rev. Erik Johnson officiating.

Lyle Duane Johnson was born Dec. 23, 1949 in Breckenridge, MN to Raymond & Lorraine (Moen) Johnson. While growing up on a farm, he spent most of his free time helping his family with farming. Lyle graduated from Milnor High School in 1969. In his earlier years, he worked as a maintenance supervisor for several companies such as Butler Machinery, 3M, and Melroe. He also spent time on the oil rigs, with his last endeavor being the owner of Budget Carpet Cleaning. On April 20, 1985 he married the love of his life, Teresa Hildahl Johnson, in LaMoure, ND. Together they raised one daughter, Mollie, born on April 22, 1992. She was the sparkle in his heart and the twinkle in his eye. He was the proudest dad that anyone could ever be. Lyle will be remembered for his quick wit, beautiful smile, and most of all his kindness. He was truly the kind of guy that would literally take his shirt off his back for anyone in need. Lyle will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Teresa Johnson, & daughter Mollie, both of Underwood; three sisters, Rita (Allen) Leshovsky of Fargo, Cherryce (Gerald) Neiber of Lidgerwood, & Vikki (Larry) Heley of Lidgerwood; one brother, Bradley Johnson of Milnor; father-in-law & mother-in-law, Gilbert & Irene Hildahl of LaMoure; sister-in-law, Delphine (Jerry) Hagen of Moorhead; brother-in-law, Steve (Diane) Hildahl of Jamestown; and many nieces & nephews.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents and one brother (Layne).
