Lydia Bauer, age 93 of Mercer, ND died Thursday, August 10, 2006 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Turtle Lake, ND.

Interment: Mercer Hillside Cemetery;
Visitation: 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM Sunday at Goetz Funeral Home - Turtle Lake;
Monday, 1 hour prior to time of service at the Mercer Community Center.
Lydia was born July 30, 1913 near Mercer, ND the daughter to Samuel & Lena (Mehrer) Rust. She attended the Medicine Hill Township School #2 thru the eighth grade. As a young woman, Lydia worked for several neighbor women, assisting with housekeeping duties, caring for children, and cooking for threshing crews. She married Emanuel Bauer on September 20, 1932 at Washburn. They farmed south of Butte, ND until 1960 when they moved to Minot, ND. While living on the farm, she was very active with the Mercer Baptist Church and served as a Sunday School teacher and piano player for 30 years. She enjoyed singing in a ladies quartet and in the church choir. While living in Minot, Lydia and Emanuel worked as custodians for the First Presbyterian Church for seven years. Lydia also worked as a nurse's assistant at the Trinity Medical Center for twelve years. Her husband Emanuel passed away in August 1973. She moved to Mercer, ND in 1978 and again became an active member of the Mercer Baptist Church. She cared for the
Lill family (Tony, Pam, Stephanie, and Tonia) for 12 years and treated them like children of her own. Lydia enjoyed gardening and raising flowers. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy.
She is survived by her Son and Daughter-in-Law, Linus & Myrtle Bauer of Butte, ND;
two Grandchildren, Melissa Plesuk of Butte, ND & Janelle (Todd) Yecoshenko of Albertville, MN; two Great Grandchildren, Mariah & Sierra Plesuk of Butte, ND;
three Sisters, Helen Russ of Mercer, ND, Elvina Fiedler of Mercer, ND, & Edina (Arnold) Fiedler of Wisconsin; one Sister-in-law, Ida Rust of Bismarck, ND;
& many Nieces & Nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband (Emanuel), parents, 3 sisters (Esther, Katie, & Mary), & 5 brothers (Vernon, Jacob, Andrew, Sam, & John Rust)
