Luella Petersen, 97, formerly of Washburn, ND died June 12, 2016 in a Mandan care center. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Monday June 20, 2016 at First Lutheran Church, Washburn with Pastor Erik Johnson officiating. Interment will be held in Riverview Cemetery, Washburn. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Sunday at Goetz Funeral Home, Washburn and will continue one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.

Luella was born September 22, 1918 in Turtle Lake, ND the daughter of Nels and Clara (Kleppe) Granlie. She was the fourth of nine children. She attended country school. Luella worked for area farmers until her marriage to Elner Petersen on March 20, 1939 in Washburn. They lived on a farm North of Falkirk where they farmed until 1945. They then moved to a farm Northeast of Washburn where they farmed until retiring in 1977. Luella and Elner then moved into Washburn. Elner died on February 10, 2000. Luella continued to live in her home until her 90th Birthday. She was a resident of Prairieview Nursing Home in Underwood until entering the care center in Mandan.

Luella enjoyed baking, quilting, sewing, and loved her flowers.

She is survived by her children, Wayne (Julie) Petersen of Washburn, Adelle (Remo) Cerruti of Freemont, CA, Marge (Jim) Martin of Underwood, ND and Connie (Jerry) Serhienko of Mandan, ND; 14 Grandchildren; 20 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Luella was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2000, an infant daughter, Ardelles, a grandson, Patrick Martin, four brothers, Harold, Arnold, Randolph and Kenneth and four sisters, Evelyn, Jennie, Helen and Norma.
