Obituary

Luella H. Burlison, 68, of Turtle Lake, ND, died June 12, 2014 at the Turtle Lake Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Turtle Lake, with the Reverend Sondra Krogstad officiating. Burial will be in the Kief Cemetery, Kief, ND.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Luella was born on May 7, 1946 in Harvey, ND, the daughter of Virgil and Irene (Mock) Knudtson. She attended country school, Balfour Public School and graduated from Butte High School in 1964.

She married Ray E. Burlison in Wichita, KS on June 7, 1965. They eventually settled in Minot, where they owned and operated several businesses and raised their two daughters. They moved to Washington State in 1978 and returned to North Dakota in 2007. They made their home in Turtle Lake. Ray died on March 22, 2013. Luella continued to live in Turtle Lake. She enjoyed reading, cooking, watching movies and visiting with family and friends. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 753 in Minot. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Cheyenne, WY, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Daughters of the Nile.

She is survived by her daughters: Michelle Burlison, Puyallup, WA and Raylene (Nick) Alred, Graham, WA; three grandchildren: Sierra, Jacob and Alina Schleining, Graham, WA; one brother, Tony Volochenko, Kief, ND and four sisters: Lillian Latimer, Hazen, ND, Beth (Kent) Larson, Scio, OR, Deborah Ohlhauser, Minot, ND and Marcy McNair, Minot, ND and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Ray in 2013.
