Lorraine I. Schon, 86, of Bismarck, ND formerly of Mercer, ND passed away on the morning of October 10, 2015 at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday October 13, 2015 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Mercer. Officiating will be Pastor Randy Emgarten. Interment will be at 3:00 PM Tuesday at the ND Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Monday and one hour prior to the service Tuesday all at the church.


Lorraine was born on May 23, 1929 in Mercer, ND the daughter of Fred and Lydia (Kleingartner) Gaub. She was raised on a farm south of Mercer and attended school in Mercer. She married Joseph Schon on January 9, 1949 at Zion Lutheran Church near Mercer. Lorraine was a farm wife for many years and enjoyed raising her three daughters. She was a wonderful cook and was always willing to help if anyone needed a meal or baked goods.

Lorraine was a 4-H leader and was a member of the Our Savior's Lutheran Church WELCA.

Grateful to have shared in her life are her daughters, Patricia (Paul) Liebersbach of Nekoma, ND, Joel'l (Gordon) Neumiller of Stanton, ND, Kathern "Kathy" Schon of Mercer; two grandchildren, Emilie (Michael) Sayler, Joseph (Jennifer) Neumiller; five great grandchildren, Isaac and Lyla Sayler, Hannah, Madison and Avrey Neumiller.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 65 years, five sisters, Ida Schell, Lydia White, Emma White, Olga Bossert and Edna Hinsz; one brother, Herbert Gaub.
