Lori Jane Rudland, 65, of Bismarck, ND, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 9, 2025, after a courageous battle with lung and brain cancer. A celebration of Lori's life will be held at First Lutheran Church in Washburn on Thursday, October 16, at 10:00 am, with a light lunch to follow.

Lori was born in Kenmare, ND, the daughter of Roland (Ron) and Rhoda Greenup. She grew up in Bowbells, ND with her 5 siblings. She graduated in 1978 from Bowbells High School.

Lori married Duane Rudland on December 30, 1978. They welcomed their first child, Sherry Schmitz, in February of 1979. In January of 1981 they welcomed their son, Bruce Rudland.

She started her career at the United States Postal Service in 1987. Lori worked for the United States Postal Service for 16 years before attending Bismarck State College, earning an associate's degree. She then started her career at Tschider & Smith Law Firm as a Legal Assistant in March of 2004.

Lori was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who found her greatest joy in the love of her family. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the center of her world, and she never missed a chance to tell them how proud she was of them. Her warmth, laughter and selfless spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength and unwavering devotion to her family.

Lori is survived by her mother, Rhoda; life partner, Marv Hochhalter; her children, Sherry(Eric) and Bruce(Steph); 6 grandchildren, Erica(Jade), Logan, Ashlyn, Racelyn, Avery and Aubry; 6 great grandchildren, Paizley, Racin, Bellamy, Nash, Huxlee and Rowan; 5 siblings, Scott(Allison), Wayne(Marsha), Teri(Don), Vicki(Mike) and Kristi(Jeff) and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Clifford and Laura Greenup; her maternal grandparents, Pastor Edwin and Ruth Petrusson; her father Roland (Ron) Greenup; and her great granddaughter, Raceleigh

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Bismarck Cancer Center.
