Locke H. Smith, age 43 of Hensler, ND died Saturday, November 29, 2008 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident near Hensler.

Visitation: 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM Wednesday at Goetz Funeral Home – Washburn;
Thursday, one hour prior to time of service at the church
Locke Howard Smith was born November 20, 1965 in Bismarck, ND to Vernon & Sally (Russell) Smith. He lived his younger years in rural Stanton and Hazen, attending elementary school in Stanton and high school in Hazen. Locke joined the Army National Guard and was later honorably discharged. He worked as an Ironworker for the Local 793 and the Local 512C. Locke especially loved and cherished his daughter, Kortnie. His favorite activities included hunting and fishing on the Missouri River bottoms where he was raised. Locke is remembered for being a very kind and big-hearted person. His door was always open to everyone.
He is survived by his daughter, Kortnie Smith of Wilton; parents, Vernon & Sally Smith of rural Hensler; one sister, Annette (Bruce) Gappert of Hensler; three brothers, Mack Smith of Hensler, Clifford (Jessie) Smith of Hensler, & Russell (Robyn) Smith of Washburn; four nephews, Dillon, Kyle, Lukas, & Jimmy; four nieces, Kaela, Katelyn, Karly, & Ashley; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Locke was preceded in death by his grandparents (Clifford & Gayle Smith, & Charlie & Marie Russell), and his aunt (Jeannette Stephens).
