Lloyd Martin, 74, Wilton, passed away March 27, 2017 at Vibra Hospital, Fargo from Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Sunne Lutheran Church, rural Wilton ND. The family will be greeting family and friends at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2017 at Sunne Lutheran Church with a prayer service and time of sharing at 7:00 p.m. We invite those who knew Lloyd to remember with smiles his mischievous sense of humor and the many ways he made us laugh.

Lloyd was born in Bismarck on November 30, 1942, to Emanuel and Cecilia (Hellman) Martin. He was raised and attended school in Wilton. Lloyd had many adventures and misadventures growing up. His kids and grandkids were always ready to hear about how he had brain surgery when he was 9, was shot in the foot by his friend, survived numerous car accidents, had a raccoon and rabbits for pets, stayed in Montana with relatives one summer, and enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends.

Lloyd married the love of his life for 52 years, Bernadine Nelson. They had three daughters, Christy, Colleen and Carol. He was a fun-loving, kid-at-heart father and enjoyed WINNING Monopoly. He enjoyed swimming with his girls at Brush Lake and let them put curlers in his hair while he watched television or slept.

He worked for Northern Pacific Railroad and at Sweetheart Bakery. He was also the daycare provider for two lucky grandsons. Josh and Tyler have great memories of Little Grandpa watching them.

He enjoyed remodeling his home, woodworking projects, refinishing antique furniture, keeping his yard looking well-groomed and he liked guns. Lots of guns. He also took trips to the mountains every summer with his wife and grandchildren. The kids looked forward to their trips and have many fun memories of Grandpa. He most recently tried boogie boarding and swimming in the ocean and loved it.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Bernadine and his daughters and their families, daughter Christy and (Shanon) McLachlan, their sons Josh Pearson (Nicki Olson) and great-granddaughter Inga, Casey McLachlan (Haley Reinholz), Bailee McLachlan (Hannah Cody), daughter Colleen (Paul) Yanez, and their son Tyler, daughter Carol (Jeremy) Herbrandson, and their children Grace, Ethan and Erin.

He is also survived by his sisters, Betty, Loretta and Nancy, brothers-in-law, Clyde, Gaylen, Ronie and Rick, sisters-in-law, Diana, Amy, Caryn, Joyce and Deniece and many nieces and nephews.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Jim and Cliff; sisters Lillian and Judy.
