Linda Schlafmann, 61, of Turtle Lake, ND joined her loved ones in heaven March 10, 2018 at CHI St. Alexius. A joint funeral service for Linda and her son Cole who died on March 4, 2018 will be held 1:30 pm Friday March 16, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Turtle Lake with Pastor Sondra Krogstad officiating. Linda Jean Schlafmann was born on September 15, 1956 in Fort Worth, TX along with her twin brother Robert to Don and Norma (Heim) Sondrol. She graduated with honors from Turtle Lake High School in 1975. Linda married Rodney Schlafmann at the Chapel of Flowers on the farm in January 24, 1975. They lived in Mandan for several years before moving to the family farm outside of Turtle Lake in 1978. Linda stayed home on the farm to raise her three boys before starting at the hospital in Turtle Lake as activities coordinator of the swing bed program in 1999. During her time at the hospital she was instrumental in getting a sidewalk built so she could take the residents to the park for weekly concerts during the summer. She also had planters installed so they could have flower beds and a little garden for the residents. Linda also wrote a weekly column in the newspaper titled Wave Lengths. Many readers enjoyed the look-back at the yesteryears as she would pull tidbits of information from newspapers in the early 1900s. Linda started working at the Farmers Union in Turtle Lake in 2014. Linda served on the cemetery board as well as high school alumni board. Linda was loved instantly by everyone she met with her upbeat attitude, her kindness to everyone and her "Never Give Up Motto."
She is survived by her father, Don Sondrol of Turtle Lake; sons Barry of Turtle Lake, and Nolan (Nikki) of Beulah; her sister Patrice (Mike) Leddy of Albuquerque, NM; her brothers, Robert Sondrol and Kevin (Lana) of Turtle Lake; her grandkids, Kloey and Rodney and many nieces and nephews.
Linda was preceded in death by husband Rodney, son Cole, mother Norma and mother and father in-law, Albert and Ruth Schlafmann.
