Obituary

Leslie "Les" J. Petryszyn, 75, Brush Lake, ND died August 29, 2019 at the Benedictine Living Center, Garrison, ND.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, September 7, 2019 at the Mercer Community Center, Mercer, ND with Pastor Randy Emgarten officiating. Interment will be in Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Mercer with military rites provided by the Turtle Lake American Legion Post #133.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday, September 6, 2019 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Mercer.  Visitation will continue on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the community center.

Les was born July 16, 1944 in St. Paul, MN the son of John and Merrylee (Coffin) Petryszyn. He was raised and educated in Bismarck and graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1962. He also attended Bismarck State College. Les served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era. While in the army he worked in communications. His military experience lead him to an extensive career in communications. Les worked for NW Bell and later MASTEC. He married Karen Rueb in 1973 and they later divorced. They were remarried in 2006 and retired to Brush Lake.

He served on many different boards including, Our Savior's Church Council and the Brush Lake Community Association. He also served as the Commander of the Turtle Lake American Legion Post #133. Les enjoyed fishing, reading, deer hunting, canning, gardening and NASCAR. He loved to solve a problem and complete projects.

Les is survived by his wife, Geri Makeef of Mercer; his daughters, Kim (Andrew) Bleasdale of Maple Grove, MN, Jill (Tim) Britton of Turtle Lake, ND and Kari (Greg) Argo of St. Paul, MN; his grandchildren, Hailey, Liam, Sienna, Elliott and Ryder; his brothers, Ken (Bonnie) of Mandan, ND, David (Cheryl) and Bob (Deb) all of Bismarck; his sisters, Evie (Paul) Klemetson of Bismarck, Kathy (Jeff) Looney of Teague, TX and Mary (Tim) Pull of Colfax, ND and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Karen and a brother, Ron.
