L. LeRoy Johnson, age 72 of Washburn, ND died Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at his home.

A memorial service will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, May 12th at First Lutheran Church in Washburn with Pastor Erik Johnson, officiating. There will be no visitation. Interment will be in the Riverview Cemetery, Washburn.

L. LeRoy Johnson was born March 19, 1940 in Underwood, ND to Lonnie A. & Florence (Danielson) Johnson. He was raised on the family farm outside of Falkirk, ND. LeRoy attended school in Washburn and graduated from Washburn High School. On August 12, 1961 he was united in marriage to Shirley Moug. Together they raised their family in Washburn. LeRoy worked for the John Deere Implement and Knutson Implement as a truck driver for many years. He later worked for McLean County as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement in April 2008. LeRoy is remembered for his argumentative spirit and for loving to call his grandkids "George". He listed to KBMR radio on a daily basis and enjoyed spending time outdoors with his dogs. LeRoy was always willing to lend people a helping hand.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Washburn; three sons, Richard (Julie) of Washburn, Ronald (Diane) of Pick City, & Edwin (Kathleen) of Lakewood, CA; two daughters, Rhonda Johnson (Dan Lundby) of Washburn, & Robyn (Russell) Smith of Washburn; 13 grandchildren, & 6 great-grandchildren; one brother, Marvin (Karen) Johnson of Kingston, WA; one uncle, LaVern (Marlys) Johnson of Washburn; and his two dogs (Princess & Lisa Marie).

LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents & grandparents.
