Polly was born June 19, 1916, at Harvey, ND, daughter of Peter and Mary (Lachnit) Badraun. She grew up on a farm near Harvey and graduated from Harvey High School. Following graduation, she attended the Minette Beauty School in Fargo. In 1935, she came to Turtle Lake, ND with a friend, Esther Johnson, and they set up the Vanity Beauty Shop in the back of the Stordahl's Barber Shop (in the south part of what is now McLean McHenry Insurance). In 1937, she became the sole shop owner and later moved the business to her home under the name of Polly's Beauty Shop. She operated the business full time until 1981 when she cut back to three days a week, and the next summer two days a week. She closed the shop in the summer of 1985. She married Gustav T. (Torald) Anderson on July 31, 1938. They lived in Turtle Lake most of their lives. Following their retirement, they traveled to Alaska, Hawaii, Iceland, and a three week tour of European countries that included visits to England and France. G. T., her husband of 58 years, died in November of 1996. Since then, she has resided in Turtle Lake, McClusky, and the last 7 years near her daughter in Niceville, FL. During her lifetime she was active as a Girl Scout leader, an active PTO member, a Sunday school teacher/superintendent and was active in the Lutheran church women's groups. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Turtle Lake.

She leaves a daughter, Karen (Tom) Kleiv of Niceville, FL; son, Gerald Anderson of Turtle Lake, ND; five grandchildren: Craig (Sawvalak) Kleiv of Portland, OR, Maj.
