Her father passed away when she was nine months old and the family (Leone, her mother, sister Mabel, & brother Walter) moved to Coleharbor, ND. Her mother married Henry Lagge in 1926 and they returned to her father's farm north of Beulah. Her mother and step-father had three more children . Leone married Friedebert Pfennig of April 7, 1940 on the Pfennig family farm north of Beulah. They made their home on a farm near Beulah until the Garrison Dam was built and flooded most of their land. They purchased a farm near Mercer, ND where they lived for many years and raised four sons and one daughter. In 1967, they moved into Turtle Lake. Leone worked at the Borth Department Store and as a cook at the Turtle Lake Hospital. In 1975, they moved to Washburn where they built a new home and Leone worked at a local café. Due to her declining health, they moved to Bismarck in 1996. She became a resident of the Baptist Home in May 2005. Leone enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and knitting. She took great pride in her many quilts. She is remembered as a tremendous cook and for her priority to keep family and friends well fed.

Grand Forks, MN & Wally Pfennig of Grand Forks, ND; one son-in-law, Mike Vorachek of Idaho Falls, ID; eight grandchildren, David, Delora, John, Matthew, Steven, Stephanie, Tracy, & Kate; twelve great grandchildren; one sister, Betty (Gordon) Kuk of Sisters, OR; one brother, James (Edith) Lagge of Chelan, WA; one sister-in-law, Betty Lagge of Sacramento, CA.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Baptist Home of Bismarck, whose staff took such wonderful care of Leone while she was a resident. Acknowledgement is also given to the caring women of McCabe United Methodist Church and to her "adopted daughter", Jane Morgan.
