Leona Julia (Cebula) Thomas, 98, formerly of Washburn, ND passed away peacefully with her family by her side on July 26, 2018 at St. Gabriel's Community, Bismarck. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, July, 30, 2018 at St. Edwin's Catholic Church, Washburn with Father Patrick Cunningham officiating. Interment will be held in Riverview Cemetery, Washburn. Visitation will held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Sunday at the church. There will also be a Rosary/Vigil Service beginning at 6:45 PM Sunday also at the church.

Leona was born at home on the family farm near Buchanan, ND the daughter of Boleslaw and Leokadiya (Kulink) Cebula. She grew up in Fried, ND and worked for area farmers, cooking for workers in the fields. She married Leonard I. Thomas on April 22, 1946 in Fried, ND. They moved to Washburn in 1950, where they raised their family. Leona worked at Johnnie's Café, Super Valu and helped Leonard run the bowling alley.

She enjoyed reading on her front porch and going for walks. Family was very important to her, she loved her children, grandchildren and her great grandchildren. Leona had amazing cooking and baking skills. You would never go hungry and she catered to everyone's likes.

Leona is survived by her daughter, Linda Gradin of Bismarck; her sons, Leore (Linda) Thomas of Bismarck, ND, Larry Thomas of Washburn and Leland Thomas of Granger, IA; her daughter-in-law, Vicki Thomas of Johnston, IA; her grandchildren, Alicia, Vickilee, Wendy, Joseph, Lindsay, Adam and Julia; her great grandchildren, Gabriella, Jasmine, Allison, Caleb, Amelia, Drake and Lorelei; her sister, Margaret Kourajian of Jamestown, ND and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leonard in 2004, five sisters, five brothers and a son-in-law, Miles Gradin.
