Leon Fylling, 79, of Ruso, ND, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2018 at CHI Community Memorial Hospital in Turtle Lake, ND.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, March 22 ^nd at St. Olaf Lutheran Church of rural Turtle Lake with Pastor Randy Emgarten officiating.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday at Goetz Funeral Chapel in Turtle Lake, and continue Thursday one hour prior to time of service at the church.

Leon was born July 17, 1938 in Underwood, ND to Knute & Eletha (Evjen) Fylling. He was raised on the family farm north of Turtle Lake and attended the Greatstone Township country school. Leon married the love of his life Sharon Benzmiller on June 21, 1962 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Turtle Lake.

He was employed with Lindteigen Construction for many years, working with the road paving crew and crusher crew where he served as a foreman. Leon enjoyed working on the farm, ice fishing, snowmobiling, and trapping. He was a skillful welder and mechanic, and enjoyed helping his son Cory during calving season. In his later years, he appreciated spending time with his grandchildren.

Leon is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sharon Fylling of Turtle Lake; two daughters, Sherri (Brent) Sanders of Washburn, & Dawn (Shane) Sellon of Turtle Lake; one son, Cory (Jody) Fylling of Ruso, ND; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Colleen) Fylling of Bismarck; two sisters, Beverly (Bob) Wendt of Minot, and Geraldine (Les) Petryszyn of Mercer; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter (Shelley), one granddaughter (Tiffany Dawn Green), two brothers (Wayne and infant Kenneth), & one sister (Renee Hastings).
