Leo Roehrich, 91, Bismarck, ND formerly of Strasburg, ND died May 23, 2022 in Sanford Health, Bismarck.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Strasburg with Father Shannon Lucht officiating.  Interment will be held in the church cemetery with military honors.  Visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a vigil/prayer services at 7:00 all at the church in Strasburg.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.

Leo was born in his rural Emmons County home on September 24, 1930 to Peter and Lucy (Wald) Roehrich.  Leo was the oldest of three children and grew up on a hard working farm near Strasburg.  He attended country school until his 8 th grade graduation.  Leo was drafted into the US Army and served from 1953 until 1955, during the Korean War.  He was stationed in Alaska where he tested equipment and drove Generals to their destinations.  After his honorable discharge he married the love of his life, Eugenia Silbernagel on June 2, 1955.  The couple made their home five miles East of Strasburg where they raised five hard working children.  Farming was Leo's passion in life. He raised cattle, crops and milked cows until moving into Strasburg in the fall of 2004.

Leo and Eugenia enjoyed traveling, which took them to various sites in Europe, Hawaii, Alaska and the Caribbean.  They also took many mystery bus trips.  They also enjoyed trail rides with their team of Shetland ponies and later enjoyed camping with the Good Sam Club.  Leo enjoyed making Red Eye and sharing it with card playing friends.  He especially enjoyed playing cards with his buddies at the Time Out Tavern.  Leo mostly enjoyed going out to the farm to tinker in the garage and check on the crops.  He wanted to make it to 90 years old and have a party but due to Covid was unable to have a get together.  That day he worked out at the farm and around his home in town and was covered in dirt from head to toe.  Leo was very proud of what he could still do at that age and had a celebratory shot of Red Eye at the end of the day!  Two months later he had a stroke that caused him to live his remainder years at St. Gabriel's in Bismarck.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Eugenia of Bismarck; his sons, Ken (Connie) Roehrich of Wilton and Ron Roehrich of Bismarck; his daughters, Donna Lafrenz of Bismarck, Tammy (Donald) Dietz of Lamberton, MN and Nyla (Kenny) Scherr of Strasburg; his 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; a brother, Elmer Roehrich of Strasburg and a sister, Marie Fulton of Mills, WY and many nieces and nephews.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Lucy Roehrich.
