Leland R. Vossler, 92, Mercer, ND died January 10, 2023 at CHI St. Alexius Community Memorial Hospital, Turtle Lake. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 20, 2023 at the Mercer Community Center. Interment will be held in the spring at the Mercer Hillside Cemetery with military honors. The family will greet friends and family one hour prior to the service on Friday at the community center.
Leland was born November 16, 1930 in Wishek, ND the son of Edward and Susan (Wall) Vossler. He attended country school near Mercer through the eighth grade. He then attended high school in Bismarck where he graduated from Bismarck High School in 1948. Following graduation Leland joined the U.S. Air Force and served until being honorably discharged in 1954. He married the love of his life, Eunice Hinsz on October 12, 1952 in Mercer. Following their marriage they lived and farmed South of Mercer. Leland retired from farming in 1995 but continued to help LaMoyne daily at the farm. Leland and Eunice moved into Mercer in 1982. While living in Mercer, Leland served as the Mayor of Mercer, was on the fire department and served on several other boards. They enjoyed spending many winters in Arizona. He was a farmer at heart but also enjoyed attending auction sales and collecting toy tractors.
Leland is survived by his wife, Eunice of Mercer; his daughter, Kimberly (Alan) Van Norman of Bismarck; his sons, LaMoyne (Cindy) Vossler of Mercer, Michael Vossler and Todd Vossler (Jessica Marshall) all of Mesa, AZ; his sisters, Delores (Reuben) Dockter, Darlene (Willie) Kostenko and Jeannie (Loren) Soule all of Bismarck; his sisters-in-law, Aletha Vossler of Bismarck and Verdelle Vossler of Minneapolis, MN and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Cooper Vossler and three brothers, Arley, Wesley and Jim.
