LaVonne E. Hochhalter, 80, of Wilton, ND, passed away October 25, 2016 at the Sanford Health Continuing Care Center on Sunset in Mandan, just 28 days after being diagnosed with advanced cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, October 29th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wilton with Rev. Frank J. Schuster as celebrant. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A parish rosary will be held at 7:00 PM Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church followed by a prayer service.
LaVonne was born on December 14, 1935 in Lisbon, ND, the daughter to Julius & Rosa (Giovannoni) Thies. She graduated from Riverdale High School in 1955. LaVonne was very proud of the fact that her father helped build the Garrison Dam.
On March 3, 1957 she married Donald R. Hochhalter. They made their home in the Wing & Regan area until Don passed away in 2000. LaVonne then moved into Wilton to be closer to her children.
LaVonne worked in the school system most of her life, first as a teacher and later as an aide, cook, janitor, and finally as a volunteer in the Wilton School lunch room.
Following LaVonne's recent hospitalization, her children, grandchildren, extended family and friends were able to spend time with her and say their goodbyes to her life well lived.
Those blessed to have shared in her life include her five children, Rosemary (Paul Jr.) Patrick of Wilton, Linda (Bill) Gregoryk of Bismarck, Joan (Gary) Sawicki of Bismarck, Ronald (Jacqueline) Hochhalter of Wilton, and Sandra (Jay) Spitzer of Wilton; 13 grandchildren, Jason, William, and RJ Gregoryk, Joshua and Jesse Patrick, Christopher and Jami Sawicki, Corey and Braden Hendershot, Alexis Hochhalter, Sarah Clausen, Sally and Thomas Spitzer; and 11 great grandchildren.
LaVonne was preceded in death by her husband Donald and her parents.
