Larry Schulz, age 76 of Washburn, ND died Friday, October 30, 2009 at a Bismarck hospital after a short battle with cancer.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, Nov. 3 at the Washburn United Methodist Church with Rev. Marvin Winstryg officiating.

Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery – Washburn.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Monday at Goetz Funeral Home, Washburn.

Larry was born July 26, 1933 in rural Washburn to Marvin and Lorraine (Pfaff) Schulz. He attended country school and graduated from Washburn High School in 1952. Larry married Patricia Uhde on June 1, 1957 in Grand Forks. They had 3 daughters. They lived 18 years on a farm north of Falkirk where they raised cattle and quarter horses and farmed. In 1975, they built their current home north of Washburn. Larry retired in September of 2008 after 60 years of doing what he enjoyed most, farming.

Larry played football in high school and continued to be an avid Washburn Cardinal fan. He was a charter member of the FFA chapter at Washburn High School. For many years, Larry looked forward to deer season and staying at deer camp with his friends. Larry was involved in many community organizations over the years, including being a member of the rural fire department, McLean County Weed Board, Falkirk Elevator Board, and at one time, he was part-owner of the Missouri Valley Grain Elevator in Washburn. He was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church in Washburn. Larry enjoyed morning coffee with his friends, Ford pickups, red machinery and his CAT, the Minnesota Vikings, NASCAR racing, and his grandchildren.

Larry is survived by his wife, Patty, of Washburn; his 3 daughters, Tamara (Russell) Winkler, Beulah, Suzeann (Timothy) Jankowski, Beulah, and Shawn (Michael) Leingang, Washburn; 3 grandchildren, Breann Winkler (special friend Bryce Zeller), Beulah, Dillon Leingang, Washburn and Jessica Leingang, Washburn; 6 step- grandchildren, 7 step great grandchildren and 1 step great-great grandchild; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Marvin Jr. and Gloria Schulz, Sioux Falls, Thomas and Coleen Schulz, Washburn, Richard and Barbara Schulz, Harvey and Paul and Susan Schulz, Washburn; brother-in-law, Roger Monson, Flasher, & brother-in-law, Otto (Linda) Uhde, Regan; sister-in-law, Joyce (Don) Sizemore of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Eyvonne Monson; sister-in-law, Mary Lynn Schulz; and infant twin grandsons, Joshua and Jamie Leingang.
