Obituary

Kim W. Erickson, 62, of Bismarck, and formerly of Mohall and Tolley, passed away at his apartment on Friday, January 5, 2024.   Cremation has taken place and a family burial will be held later this summer.

Kim Wayne was born to Roy and Reta (Tovey) Erickson on June 9, 1961 in the Renville Bottineau Memorial Hospital, Mohall, with his twin brother, Kip Layne, born minutes after him. He and his five siblings grew up in the Mohall area. They first lived on the Kappadahl farm and later moved to the Erick­son farmstead, before moving into Mohall. Kim graduated from Mohall High School in 1980. While in high school, Kim participated in football, basketball, and golf. His senior year the Mohall Yellowjackets football team made it all the way to the semi-final playoffs. He was named an All-Region and All-State football player. He also received some awards in golf. He also belonged to a youth bowling summer league.

Following graduation from high school, Kim attended a year and a half at North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton. He then returned to Mohall and began working in the oilfield with Cardinal Dril­ling. He later began working at Kelly's Recreation in Mohall and joined a couple of the men's bowling leagues. He loved his bowling and attended many State Bowling Tournaments and even went to a couple of National Bowling Tournaments in Las Vegas and Ohio. After Kelly's Recreation closed, Kim managed numerous bars and restaurants here in North Dakota and even in Florida. He later moved to Bismarck to live.

Survivors include his siblings, Ramona (Erickson) Schultz of Savage, MN; LaVonne Erickson, Mohall, ND; Barb (Erickson) Johnson, Mohall, ND; Roger Erickson, Mohall, ND, and Kip Erickson, Washburn, ND; his aunts, Susie Erickson of Sidney, MT and June Tovey of Lowry City, MO; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Louise and Luverna Erickson and Delbert and Leta Tovey; sister, Vicki Mae; sister-in-law, Kathryn Erickson; brother-in-laws, Alan Johnson and David Schultz; and several aunts and uncles.
