Kevin C. Olson, age 30 of Underwood, ND died unexpectedly on Sunday, April 26 at his home.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, May 1 at Augustana Lutheran Church in Underwood with Pastor Jeff Higbie, officiating.
Kevin Curtis Olson was born October 9, 1978 in Garrison, ND the son to Colin & Melva (Else) Olson. At the age of four, Kevin received his first motorcycle and enjoyed racing until the age of ten when he was the youngest motocross racer to take the state title in the 80cc division. Throughout Kevin's high school years, he was a standout athlete, especially in football. He received the honor of Iron Man and was a 1st Team All-State member. Kevin played in the Shrine Bowl and was invited to play in the Down Under Bowl in Australia. He graduated from Underwood High School in 1997 and was given a full-ride scholarship to play football at Minot State University. After one year of college, Kevin was unable to continue playing football due to a motorcycle injury. In the summer of 1998, he moved to Fort Collins, CO where he was employed as a Surveyor Assistant. Within three months of employment, he taught himself to operate all of the technical surveying equipment and was promoted to Crew Chief. Kevin worked for various engineering firms in Colorado, Minnesota, & North Dakota. He also worked on several oil rigs around western North Dakota. Kevin's proudest accomplishment was being a daddy to Taylor, Hannah, & Hunter. He loved spending time with his children and was very proud of all three of them. It broke his heart not to be able to share in their lives all of the time. Kevin is remembered for being a wonderful uncle to his three nephews who admired him greatly and enjoyed spending time with him. Kevin will be forever remembered for his extreme intelligence, his caring ways, and his passion for family togetherness. His smile could light-up the room and his personality drew people to him. Kevin will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
