June Boots, 89 formerly of Washburn and Riverdale died June 24, 2021 at St. Gabriel's Community, Bismarck, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at St. Bonaventure's Catholic Church, Underwood, ND with Father Patrick Cunningham officiating. Interment will be held in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a Vigil service at 7:00 PM all at the church in Underwood. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
June was born December 23, 1931 on a farm near Endres, ND the daughter of William "Bill" and Vivian "Sis" (Louser) Meier. She was raised and educated in Coleharbor, ND. She graduated valedictorian from Coleharbor High School in 1949. June married the love of her life, Marvin "Bud" Boots on July 16, 1949 in Underwood. They owned and operated Bud's Food Center in Coleharbor, where they also started their family. They moved to Riverdale where they continued to raise their family. June worked as a paraprofessional at the Riverdale School for many years. They retired and moved to Washburn in 2008.
In retirement, June enjoyed spending time with family and friends, along with her hobbies of gardening, quilting, knitting and sewing. While living in Riverdale she was very active in the Legion Auxilary, Red hat Society, Woman's Club and Birthday Club. June was very active in the Catholic Church where she taught CCD and was active in the altar society.
June is survived by her five children, Kristie (Jerry) Rollness of Langdon, ND, Mary (Dwight) Pochant of Rapid City, SD, Milissa (Clark) Price of Hensler, ND, Casey (Gail) Boots of Oroville, CA, and Karri (Daniel) Malsam of Roscoe, SD; 17 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Karen Meier of Pollock, SD, Janice Padget of Sun City, FL, Paula Simenson of Sun City, FL, and Rosemary (Dennis) Boostrom of Hollywood, FL and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2018; a daughter, Claudia Baker; a grandson, Michael Fetzer; a great-grandson, Mikey Fetzer; a brother, Blaine Meier; a sister Yvonne (Glyn) Goltz; a sister-in-law, Peggy Melhoff.
