John D. Sayler, age 74 of Washburn, ND died Sunday, November 25th at a Bismarck hospital.

Interment: Underwood Cemetery – Underwood, ND;
Visitation: 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM Wednesday at Goetz Funeral Home – Washburn;
Thursday, one hour prior to time of service at the church.
John was born August 7, 1933 at rural Underwood, ND, the son of John & Glorene (Dirks) Sayler. He attended rural school and later attended Underwood High School. John married Adele Nodland on February 24, 1957 at Underwood. He farmed most of his life on the family farm southwest of Underwood. John also worked at the Underwood Coal Mine for a couple years and for Pulver Sanitation during the winter months. John was later employed by Fisher Sand & Gravel as a heavy equipment operator at the Riverdale, ND pit for 23 years. In 1995, John retired due to health reasons and he and Adele moved to Washburn. John and Adele raised seven children and celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in February 2007. John loved to go fishing, bowling, & deer hunting. This year was his 60th year of hunting. John was a member of the United Methodist Church of Washburn and cherished the time he could spend with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Adele Sayler of Washburn; 6 sons, Paul (Dawn) Sayler of Hazen, John E. (JoDee) Sayler of Bismarck, Peter (Sandy) Sayler of Hettinger, Daniel (Denice) Sayler of Dickinson, Matthew Sayler of Mandan, & Mark (Sheri) Sayler of Lincoln, ND; 1 daughter, Ruth (Tim) Reberg of Bowdon, ND; 12 grandchildren;
8 great grandchildren; & 6 step-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Elizabeth (Gilbert) Reiland of Hanford, CA, Myrtle (Hampton) Breeding of Riverdale, ND, & Myldred (Wallace) Swanson of Turtle Lake, ND.
John was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 sisters (infant Katherine & Jean Sayler)
