John LeRoy Desmond IV, 41, Washburn, ND died July 2, 2023 at his residence under the care of hospice and his family.  A Celebration of John's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at Goetz Funeral Home, Washburn.

John was born April 15, 1982 in Lansing, MI the son of John III and Susan (Hovey) Desmond.  He was raised and educated in Traverse City, MI.  John worked with his father building houses and doing other construction projects.  John met Sara Steed and they lived in Florida and Colorado where they worked construction.  They were married in 2020 and moved to Washburn where they managed the Scotwood Motel and met many special friends.  They have an infant son, John LeRoy Desmond V.

He enjoyed music, dancing, playing soccer and spending time with his friends and family, especially his son.  He was always the life of the party.

John is survived by this wife, Sara and son, John V of Washburn; his parents, John LeRoy Desmond III (Diane Manville) and Susan Desmond of Traverse City, MI; his brother, Andrew Desmond of Traverse City, MI.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edwin Hovey and John "Jack" II and Bethel Desmond.
