Obituary
John Chesworth, age 83 of Washburn, ND, died Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at a Bismarck hospital.
Funeral Services: 2:00 PM Thursday, November 6, 2008;
Goetz Funeral Home Chapel – Washburn;
Rev. Marvin Winstryg, Officiating
Interment: Riverview Cemetery – Washburn;
Military rites provided by the American Legion Victor B. Wallin Post #12
Visitation: 12 Noon – 2:00 PM Thursday at Goetz Funeral Home - Washburn;
John A. Chesworth was born August 14, 1925 in Washburn, ND, to Albert & Hazel (Benn) Chesworth. He attended school in Washburn and entered the U.S. Army in September 1944. John served in The Asiatic-Pacific Campaign of World War II. He was honorably discharged in November 1946. He returned to Washburn where he worked for West River Telephone Co. and the Ottertail Power Plant. John was employed with the McLean County Soil Conservation District for nearly twenty years. He later worked as a hired hand for area farmers. John enjoyed drinking coffee and shaking dice with friends at the local café and at Merkel's Barber Shop in Washburn. John was a member of the American Legion Victor B. Wallin Post #12.
John is survived by one sister, Grace Dutoit of Fullerton, CA; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters (Leola Page & Lois Heckerman), and two brothers (Jim & Wesley Chesworth).
