JoAnn Nelson, age 57 of Washburn, formerly of Seattle, WA, died January 23, 2009 at her home in Washburn.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, Jan. 27 at Sunne Lutheran Church, rural Wilton, ND, with Rev. Paul Schauer, officiating.

JoAnn was born December 6, 1951 at Bismarck, ND to Roy & Doris (Vollan) Berg of Wilton. She grew up in Seattle, WA where she met her soul mate, Don Nelson. They were married on July 3, 1968. She was happy to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary last year. They have a son, Donald Jr., who JoAnn couldn't have been more proud of. She also leaves behind Joey, her grandson, who was the light of her life. JoAnn lived for his phone calls and the vacations she took to see him.

JoAnn was a talented seamstress and loved to knit and work with her hand. She worked in the textile industry for many years. She had a passion for life and lived each day to her last. We will miss her smile and laughter.

She is survived by her husband, Don Nelson of Washburn; one son, Donnie (Tracy) and grandson Joey of Seattle, WA; her parents, Roy & Doris Berg of Wilton; five siblings, Ron Berg of Lead, SD, Jean (Terry) Reindel of Elma, WA, June Sims of Washburn, Jerry Berg of Seattle, WA, & Coleen Kuehner of Washburn; many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
