Jimmie was born on August 6, 1943, in Mandan, North Dakota, to Benjamin and Amelia (Littke) Bauer. He lived a life defined by hard work, dedication to family, and a deep connection to the land.
He was raised on a farm south of Butte, ND, Jimmie attended Byer’s Ville County School through the eighth grade. From a young age, he developed a strong work ethic, helping area farmers and later building working at Rust Manufacturing, where he was a foreman.
On June 25, 1967, Jimmie married the love of his life Gloria Schilling, beginning a devoted partnership that spanned 58 years. The couple made their home in Mercer. Together, they were blessed with two children, Troy and Scott. The family moved to Oregon in 1969. In 1974, an opportunity to return to farming on the family farm brought them back to North Dakota, where they continued to build their life.
A lifelong farmer at heart, Jimmie remained active in agriculture for many years, even as he gradually slowed down. He had a natural talent for mechanics and spent countless hours tinkering, helping neighbors repair machinery, and even assisting local shops with transmission work.
Outside of farming, he enjoyed trapping muskrats and mink and took pride in serving as a member of the Aurena Township Board.
Jimmie is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Gloria, sons, Troy (Tammy) Bauer, Scott Bauer, grandchildren, Logan, Claire, and Madelyn, great-granddaughter, Paige, brother, Jerry Bauer and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Delmer and Wayne (Loranna) Bauer, sister, Delores.
