Jim Murray, 68, of Mercer, ND, died October 27, 2015 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Turtle Lake, ND.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, October 31st at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Mercer with Pastor Randy Emgarten officiating. Burial will follow in the Mercer Hillside Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4:30 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Mercer, followed by a 7:00 Prayer Service.
Jimmy Duane Murray was born September 9, 1947 in McClusky, ND to Harry and Aneta (Helm) Murray. Jim was raised and worked on the family farm south of McClusky. After graduating from McClusky High School, Jim started his own construction company, Jim Murray Construction.
Jim married Barbara Diede in 1965 and from that union three sons were born, Darren, James, and Mike.
In 1984, Jim married his life's love, Mozel. Together they enjoyed participating in car shows and spending time at their winter home in Apache Junction, AZ. Some of Jim's favorite things were spending time with his children and grandchildren, and acting as Captain of his pontoon while enjoying weekends at his Brush Lake cabin. Jim was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, a former councilman for the City of Mercer, a volunteer firefighter, an active member of Mercer Booster Club and Mercer Centennial Park Board, and co-founder of the Motor to Mercer Car Show. Jim collected and restored classic vehicles and enjoyed spending time driving them around the state of ND.
Jim is survived by his wife, Mozel of Mercer; sons, Darren (Kelly) Murray of Mercer, James (Kim Wagner) Murray of Mercer, Mike (Sherrie) Murray of Bismarck, and Jason (Jamie) Meidinger of Mercer; grandchildren, Brianne Murray, Bryce Murray, Morgan (Mitch) Lang, Jaren Murray, Jade Murray, Jameson, Joss and Jace Meidinger; sister, June (Gary) Marchus of Bismarck; brother, Raymond (Willa) Murray of Mercer; sister-in-law, Claudia (David) Rust of Tioga, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Aneta; and sister and brother-in-law, MaryLou Alexander and Harold Alexander.
