Jill Marie (Sem) Harper of Underwood, ND passed away peacefully on June 6 ^th , 2020 at Sanford Health in Bismarck. She was surrounded by her loving family, who stood by her side while she made her final journey to a place where there is no more pain. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the ICU staff at Sanford Health who showed special compassion and care for Jill. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 11. 2020 at the Underwood City Hall with Pastor Steve Vetter officiating. Interment will be held in the Underwood Cemetery.

Jill was born to John "Jack" Sem and Priscilla Gjerde on July 18, 1956. Jill shared her birthday with her dear twin brother, Jack – except she was 45 minutes older, which is something he never let her forget. Jill grew up in the Minot area and attended Minot High School. In 1973, Jill welcomed her daughter, Mindy; followed by her son, Christopher, in 1977. Jill raised her family in Underwood, North Dakota, where she has remained ever since. In 2003, Jill married Sidney Harper. The two owned and managed many properties in the Underwood and Garrison area, and enjoyed nothing more than traveling and spending time with their grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Above all, Jill was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She took pride in her home and entertaining her many friends and family members. She and her home were immaculately kept, emanating warmth, welcome, comfort, and a hot meal even on the coldest of days. She was an incredibly beautiful, caring, and strong woman who is loved dearly by the family she created and left behind.

Jill was preceded in death by her father, Jack Sem; mother, Priscilla Gjerde; and niece, Amy Bennett.

Jill is survived by her husband, Sidney Harper, and her favorite feline companion, Calvin the Cat, both of Underwood, ND. She is also survived by her children, Christopher (Amy) Eng (Underwood, ND) and Mindy (Matthew) Anderson (Turtle Lake, ND), as well as her siblings; Cheri (Ed) Allen (Billings, MT), Jack Sem (Underwood, ND), Kristi (Virgil) Tatman (Casper, WY), Kari (David) Bennett (Billings, MT), and Lori (Tom) McChesney; her step mother, Bertha Sem (Tucson, AZ); her nephew Brandon (Rachel) Sem and their children, Macy and Aubrey (Underwood, ND); her niece Heidi (Reese) Boehm and their children, Ellis and Ira (Washburn, ND). Jill will be especially missed by her grandchildren, Adlyn, Maggie, Lilly, Hannah, Jordan, Blakeley, and Whitney; and her great grandson, Lincoln; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors.
