Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jesse Allen Peterson, who departed this life on February 11, 2026, at Garrison Benedictine Living Community beside his beloved wife and sister. A celebration of life will be held in the spring of 2026.

Jesse was born on December 14, 1969, to Virgil and Marsha (Hornaday) Peterson in Minot ND. He attended school at Parshall Elementary and then Magic City Campus, Minot, ND for High School. After his Junior year, Jesse attended the Army Basic Training in Fort Polk, Louisianna. The day after high school graduation, He flew down for more training and joined the Army as a full-time tank driver, stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas. In 1990, Jesse took part in the Desert Shield/Desert Storm combat.

He completed his four-year enlistment and then moved to a farmstead near Bottineau. There he farmed for the Nordmarks. In 1997, Jesse attended NDSCS taking the Journeyman Electrical program. In 1998, Jesse and Kyla met on campus. Keeping in touch and coming together when the time was right, the two married in 2001 in Twin Valley, Minnesota. They started out in Fargo, then moved to Grandin into their first house together. In 2005, they moved to Turtle Lake to be closer to Jesse's family.

Jesse continued working as an electrician/maintenance. Jesse enjoyed the hobbies of fishing and carpentry. Jesse was a man of many talents, including building the great green barn shed in the backyard and a nice deck patio for his mother, which others asked if they could copy. He was an old romantic soul with a love for old music (such as Ernest Tubb and Glenn Miller) and old movies (mostly WW2). You could find the married couple dancing in the kitchen or living room quite often at random times to old songs like "True Love Ways." The family pets would say he has a magical armpit that they snuggle into at night, sometimes causing a hissy fit over their turn in it.

Jesse was cherished by family, friends, and all who knew him. He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, old romantic soul, an unwavering spirit, and a gift of the gab (that man could conversate for hours). The gift of gab - he has surprised his wife by walking up to the Nelson brothers, carrying on a conversation like they're his closest cousins; walking up to the stage and shaking hands.

Jesse is survived by his wife Kyla, sister Desiree (Loren) Desjardins, brother Shawn Peterson, and his nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Virgil and Marsha.

Jesse's memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
