Jerald "Jerry" Fast, 79, Mercer, ND, passed away on September 30, 2022 at CHI St. A's Community Memorial Hospital, Turtle Lake, ND after a hard fought battle with cancer. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 14, 2022 at the Washburn United Methodist Church, Washburn, ND with Pastor Annie Carlson officiating.

Jerald (Jerry) was born June 4, 1943 in Underwood, ND to Joseph and Luella (Reitman) Fast.  He was raised and educated in the rural Coleharbor and Turtle Lake schools.  He was baptized and confirmed in Bethal Lutheran Church in rural Coleharbor.

Jerald was united in marriage to Diane Krueger on January 19, 1964.  Jerald was a member of the Teamsters Union and drove truck throughout various states for many years.  He also worked for Boeing Co. for a few years.  He was also a sheet metal worker at various power plants.  In 1995 Jerald and Diane started Sanitary Septic Services.  Jerald loved to visit with his many customers.  Jerald retired from his business in 2015.  After retirement they bought an RV and enjoyed traveling cross country.

Jerald loved to camp, fish, and hunt.  Jerald enjoyed spending time watching wildlife in his spare time. He loved visiting with his family and the many friends he met throughout his lifetime.  In the fall of the year he couldn't wait to come Monty's farm and ride along with his son Jeremy in the truck during corn chopping and watch Brent chop corn while reminiscing with Jeremy about his trucking days and solving the world's problems.  Jerald's greatest joy was his granddaughter's, Kayla and Allison.

Jerald is survived by his wife of 58 years, Diane; his son, Lonnie (Bridget) Fast, WA, granddaughters, Kayla Fast, MN and Allison Fast, WA; his son, Jeremy Fast, Stacy, MN.  A very special gal that was like a daughter to him, Terri Duffney, MN; his sister, Judy (Alex) Bovkoon of Brownfield, TX; his brothers, Larry (Valerie) Fast of Coleharbor and Monty (Connie) Fast, Turtle Lake; nephews, Myron (Ellen) Bovkoon, Todd (Christie) Bovkoon, TX, Troy (Joy) Fast, Bismarck, Brent (Lindsey) Fast, Turtle Lake; his nieces, Marilyn (Brent) Persilver, TX, Lori Fast, Fargo, Melissa (Mike) Nelson, New Salem.  Jerald is also survived by many other relatives.

Jerald was preceded in death by his parents and mother and father in law, Alfred and Rose Krueger.
