Jerald J. Miller, 72, Turtle Lake, ND died December 30, 2017 at CHI St. Alexius Health in Bismarck, ND. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday January 4, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Turtle Lake with Pastor Sondra Krogstad officiating. Interment will be held in the Turtle Lake Cemetery with military rites provided by the Turtle Lake American Legion. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday at the church in Turtle Lake. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
Jerald was born August 4, 1945 in Washburn, ND the son of Bennie and Ruth (Brenneise) Miller. He was raised and educated in Turtle Lake. He attended grade school and high school in Turtle Lake. Jerald served in the US Army during the Vietnam War from 1965 until being honorably discharged in 1967. He received a bronze star for his service. Jerald married Betty Reiser on October 3, 1969 at the Turtle Lake Baptist Church. They lived in Minot, ND where he worked for Culligan Soft Water Service. They moved to Turtle Lake in 1971 where Jerald worked for Berg Ready Mix and the City of Turtle Lake. They moved to a farm west of Turtle Lake in 1975 where Jerald farmed and later began working as a water pump operator for Falkirk Mine. He also drove septic truck for LeRoy Hoff. He retired in 1998 but continued to live on the farm.
He enjoyed playing cards, visiting and having coffee with his neighbors and raising chickens. Jerald loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Jerald is survived by his wife, Betty of Turtle Lake; his daughter, Theresa Miller of Mandan, ND; his sons, J. Justin Miller and special friend Megan Diede of Turtle Lake, Travis (Lisa) Miller of Baldwin, ND, Dylan (Ashley) Miller of Jamestown, ND; his grandchildren, Taran, Tanner, Tori, Landyn, Jonah, Tessa, Andrew, Tralee, Mikayla and Damita; his sisters, Sharon Landseidel of Bismarck and Maxine (Dennis) Birst of Fargo, ND and a sister-in-law, Karen (Greg) Gavere of Grand Forks, ND and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Joel Miller, a brother, Duane Miller and a sister, Ardella Landseidel
