Jean E. Binsfeld, 90, formerly of Washburn, ND died March 12, 2024 in a Bismarck Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, March 16, 2024 at the Washburn United Methodist Church, Washburn, ND. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday, March 15, 2024 at Goetz Funeral Home, Washburn. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Interment will be held in the Riverview Cemetery, Washburn.
Jean was born November 4, 1933 in Wilton, ND the daughter of Clarence and Hazel (Peterson) Peterson. She was raised and attended school in the Painted Woods Township. She graduated from the Wilton High School in 1952. She married Richard "Babe" Binsfeld on June 30, 1954 in Wilton. They lived in Washburn where Jean had a variety of jobs. She taught school, was a waitress, babysat and helped cater weddings. Jean was also a cook at the 4-H Camp, Asbury Bible Camp and also cooked for the Lions Club. Jean also worked part-time for nearly all the offices in the McLean County Courthouse until 1970. Jean then began work for the sheriff's office for Sheriff Arlin Thompson. She was a dispatcher and correctional officer until retiring in 1995, but continued to work part-time for three more years. Her co-workers often referred to her as "General Jean". Rest in peace badge number 4907 !!
She was very active with the Washburn Ambulance Service and the Wilton and Washburn Senior Citizens for many years. Jean enjoyed bowling, playing cards and visiting over a cup coffee with her family and friends.
Jean is survived by her sons, Gordon (Charlene) Binsfeld of Washburn and Michael Binsfeld of Bismarck; her grandchildren, Matthew Binsfeld, Christopher (Crystal) Binsfeld, Bethany "Beth' Binsfeld (Lynnard Witt); her great grandchildren, Tanner Binsfeld, Archer Binsfeld, Bronson Binsfeld and Bailey Mattson; her brothers, Jim Peterson and Jerry (Corrine) Peterson; her sister, Marylou Hanson; her sister-in-law, MaDonna Peterson and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2009 and two brothers, Dave and Frayne and a brother-in-law, Jim Hanson.
