Janice was born Dec. 22, 1940 in Minot, ND to Clayton & Bessie (Newman) Holen. She grew up in Minot and later worked at several local restaurants. She was active with a bowling league, where she met a friend of a friend, Richard Lorentzen, and they later were married. They made their home near Washburn and raised two daughters, Lisa, born in 1979, and Michelle, born in 1981. Janice was employed in the bakery of the Washburn supermarket for 16 years. She is remembered as a very happy and humorous person with an unmistakable laugh. Janice moved to Bismarck in December 2009 and later became a resident of the St. Gabriel's Community in 2013. She often talked about her "grand puppies" and all the friends she cared so much about. She enjoyed lunch meetings with her daughter Michelle and playing card games. Janice valued living on the farm, was very fond of her friends, and will be greatly missed by her loved ones.
She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Lorentzen of Bismarck, ND; her ex-husband, Richard Lorentzen of Washburn; her brother, David Holen of Denver, CO; her sister, Sharon (Larry) Healton of Wichita Falls, TX; her sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Karen Lorentzen of Washburn, Edna Green of Falkirk, ND, and Haldor Lorentzen of Washburn and many nieces, nephews and special friends.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents, a son Brian, a daughter Lisa and her mother and father-in-law, Haldor Sr. and Mabel Lorentzen.
The family would like to thank the staff of St. Gabriel's Community for their love and care they gave Janice these past years.
