Janice E. Hanson, 69, Washburn, ND died March 2, 2014 in a Bismarck, ND hospital.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, March 6, 2014 at First Lutheran Church in Washburn. Officiating will be the Rev. Erik Johnson. Interment will be in the Riverview Cemetery, Washburn. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday at Goetz Funeral Home, Washburn and will continue one hour prior to the services on Thursday at the church.

Janice was born September 28, 1944 in Underwood, ND, the daughter of Frank and Lorraine (Gruenberg) Holznagel. Her family moved to Washburn when she was 2 years old. Janice attended school in Washburn and graduated in 1962. She married John Verner Hanson on January 16, 1965 at First Lutheran Church in Washburn. They lived in Washburn where they raised their six children. Janice sold Avon products for 25 years. Verner died on August 10, 2004. Janice continued to live in Washburn until entering the Prairie View Nursing Home in Underwood and later the Baptist Home in Bismarck. She enjoyed playing cards and the board game "Trouble". She also enjoyed attending her son's car races, and spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

Janice is survived by her sons: Brad (Tonya) Hanson of Washburn, Jamie (Jessica) Hanson of Lincoln, ND, Dwight (Joy) Hanson of Washburn, Tracy (Sharon) Hanson of Fullerton, CA; Daughter: Sheila (Dale) Richards of Yorba Linda, CA; 18 Grandchildren; 5 Great Grandchildren; brothers: Bill Holznagel of Sumner, WA; & Robert (Deb) Holznagel; sisters: Violet (Stephen) Hanning of Shoreline, WA, and Becky (Jeff) Gruenberg of Yakima, WA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband (Verner) in 2004, her daughter Twyla Hanson in 2011, and her step-father Randy Granlie.
