James "Jim" Peterson, 86, formerly of Wilton, ND died August 22, 2024 in a Bismarck, ND care center.  Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at the Goetz Funeral Home, Washburn, ND.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.  Interment will be held in the Rosehill Cemetery, rural Wilton.

Jim was born December 1, 1937 in Wilton, ND the son of Clarence and Hazel (Peterson) Peterson.  He was raised on the family farm Southwest of Wilton.  He attended country school.  He worked on the family farm and helped the area neighbors.  Jim also spent many summers putting up hay on his sisters, Marylou (Jim) Hanson's farm.

After his father's death in 1982, Jim and his mother lived on the family farm before moving in Wilton.  They enjoyed spending time at the Senior Citizens Club.  Jim continued to care for his mother until she entered a care center.  Hazel died in 1996 and Jim continued to live in Wilton.  He was a resident at the Terrace in Bismarck before entering St. Gabriel's (Benedictine Living Center) in Bismarck.

Jim enjoyed meeting and making new friends.  He also enjoyed going for rides and having coffee.  Jim enjoyed puzzles, playing cards, watching television and most of all, spending the holidays with family.

He is survived by his brother, Jerry (Corinne) Peterson of Bismarck; his sister, Marylou Hanson of Robinson, ND and a sister-in-law, Madonna Peterson of Bismarck and many nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, David Peterson and Frayne (Pat) Peterson; his sister, Jean (Richard "Babe") Binsfeld and a brother-in-law, Jim Hanson.
