Obituary

Jack A. Walcker, 86, Turtle Lake, ND died December 25, 2016 at CHI Community Memorial Hospital, Turtle Lake. Memorial services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday June 3, 2017 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, rural Turtle Lake with Pastor Randy Emgarten officiating.

Jack was born August 27, 1930 on a farm near Turtle Lake the son of John and Katherine (Rothmann) Walcker. He was raised and educated in various country schools. He attended and graduated from Reisch Auctioneer School in Mason City, Iowa in 1955. Jack married Dolores Blotter on December 16, 1956 in Turtle Lake. They later divorced. They lived on a farm NW of Turtle Lake. Jack was a grain and dairy farmer and was also an auctioneer for more than fifty years. He retired from farming in 1985 but continued to auctioneer and help area farmers. He also worked for the South McLean Soil Conservation District.

Jack was a true cowboy who enjoyed participating in rodeos as a bull rider and was part of the Garrison wagon train for many years. His passion was riding and training horses of which he did daily up until the age of 85. He also loved to drive his buggy horse "Little Feather". He could often be found giving rides to his grandchildren and riding in the Turtle Lake parade. Jack was an accomplished harmonica player and was always willing to entertain everyone in the room.

He is survived by his children, Cindy (Patrick) Essen of Watertown, MN, Pam (Kelly) Trueblood of Washburn, ND, Jeff (Lori) Walcker of Mercer, ND, and Jayson (Susan) Walcker, Turtle Lake, ND; 8 grandchildren, Taylor and Jordan Essen, Brad and Michael Trueblood, Jill Walcker, Lindsey (Matt) Leer, Blake (Cassy) Walcker and Luke Walcker; 3 great-grandchildren, Olivia Essen, Ava and Tenley Leer; his brothers, Fred Walcker of Billings, MT and Virgil Walcker of Turtle Lake; his sisters, Freda Voth of Turtle Lake, Mary Seidler of Garrison, ND, Helen Smith of Chula Vista, CA and Leona Urban of Chula Vista, CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, 3 sisters, Maggie Behrens, Elsie Sellon, Bertha Holberg, 3 brothers, Arnold, Ted and John.
