Obituary

Irvin Bauer , 85, of Mandan, formerly of Turtle Lake, passed away January 2, 2012 at a Bismarck hospital.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, Jan. 5th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Turtle Lake with Pastor Betty Stedman officiating. Interment will follow at the Turtle Lake Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday at Goetz Funeral Home in Turtle Lake.

Irvin "Irv" Glenn Bauer was born March 29th 1926 to Edwin and Louise (Schott) Bauer in Lincoln, Nebraska. Shortly after Irv's birth, the family relocated to a farm north of Turtle Lake, ND, where he spent his childhood. Irv played high school football and graduated from Turtle Lake High School in 1943.
On October 12, 1947, he married Eunice Nelson at the St. Olaf Lutheran Church Parsonage in Turtle Lake. They spent their first year of marriage in a home north of Turtle Lake. In 1948, they relocated to Williston where their two daughters, Brenda and Carla, were born. In 1960, the family moved to Minot where Irv continued his career as a liquor and beer wholesale distributer. On October 15, 1971, Irv married Dolores (Boyeff) Walker. Irv and Dolores had one daughter, Sandy, and resided in Turtle Lake where he owned/operated "Irv's Bar". After selling the bar, Irv lived and worked in Jamestown as a route salesman for several ND liquor distributors. Even though Irv & Dolores later divorced, they were reunited , returning to Turtle Lake and remaining together until Dolores's death in May 2000. Irv spent his retirement years at his home in Turtle Lake and enjoyed many wonderful days at his cabin on Crooked Lake.
Irv spent his recent years living at the MedCenter One Mandan Living Center in Mandan, ND. Irv enjoyed outings to his family's homes in the area and regular visits to "The Hideaway Bar".


Irv is survived by his three daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Paul Wiese, Mandan; Carla and Daryl Iszler, Bismarck; Sandy and Dave Kenyon, Colorado Springs; his grandchildren, Sean (Christine) Wiese; Scott (Lori) Wiese; Stacy (Wayne) Block; Steffany (Christopher) Flakker; Brandon and Tyler Iszler; Steven, Garrett and Ryan Kenyon; his great-grandchildren, Zachary, Jackson, Kaia, Kamryn, Tristan, Tucker Wiese, and Gentry Block; along with sisters-in-law and brothers -in-law; Merlin (Violet) Nelson, Blanche (Clarence) Okerson, Neil (MaryAnn) Nelson, Ruth Nathan and Maureen Hochsprung; many dear cousins, nieces and nephews.

Irv was preceded in death by his wives, Dolores Bauer (May 1, 2000) and Eunice Bauer Bradford (March 5, 2002); his great-granddaughter, Aspyn Block (July 15, 2002); his parents; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Orval, Dorothy, Don, Virginia Nelson, Frances and Wally Bastian, & Bob Hochsprung.
