Inez was born June 6, 1931 to Alice Ringheim Thompson (Krein) and Bert Thompson in Washburn, ND. Inez was raised as an only child but had many cousins whom she felt were her siblings. Inez married Lloyd Brown on November 7, 1958 in Washburn. They owned Lloyd's Bar in Underwood before Lloyd was killed in a car accident on July 31, 1970 near Nekoma, ND.
Inez and Lloyd are survived by three children, Terry Dean, daughter-in-law Jeanne, Bonnie Marie and Karen Faye. After Lloyd's death, Inez continued to run the bar until her asthma couldn't take the bar smoke any longer. She then drove school bus, worked as a security guard for the Falkirk Mine and later drove senior citizen's bus for West River Transit.
Inez was active in the Washburn Senior Citizen's, and loved puzzles, reading and bluegrass music. She loved her family, her dogs and her cats. She was a friend to many and would give the shirt off her back to help someone in need.
Inez was a very strong woman and did everything with her whole heart. In her younger days she broke horses. In her later years she drove "little old ladies shopping". Inez loved to laugh and enjoyed a good mystery. One of her last outings was the Fort Ransom First Annual Bluegrass Festival. Though just diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, she sat for the entire day listening to the music and loving every minute of it.
Her last day on this earth was spent listening to her great-granddaughter giggling at the foot of her hospital bed. Besides her three children and her daughter-in-law, she had five grandchildren; Craig, Charlie and Jennea Kantola, Philip and Justin Brown, and one adorable great granddaughter, Marlee Jade Brown.
Inez was preceded in death by a younger sister who died in infancy, her parents, her step-father, her loving husband (Lloyd), and her mother and father-in law (Fred and Fay Brown). She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
