Hilda Fiedler, age 68 of Bismarck, ND, formerly of Turtle Lake, ND, died Wednesday, April 4 at a Bismarck hospital.

Hilda was born August 6, 1938 in Romania, South Russia, the daughter to Benjamin & Margaretha (Weber) Fueller. At five years of age, she moved with her family to West Germany as World War II was threatening their lives. Hilda, along with her parents and sister Wilma, immigrated to the United States in 1952. They lived in Ohio for a brief time before moving to McClusky, ND. Her family made their permanent residence in Turtle Lake where Hilda attended school and learned the English language. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. As a young adult, Hilda worked for the Cleo Ewing Department Store and later the Borth Department Store in Turtle Lake. In 1960, she took a trip to Germany to visit her family and friends. Hilda worked in grocery stores in Washburn and Turtle Lake for several years. In 1975, she began working for Ken's Jack & Jill store in Turtle Lake. Hilda thoroughly enjoyed her work and loved visiting with customers. She retired in 1989 due to failing health. Hilda cared for her aging mother for several years while living in Turtle Lake. She enjoyed maintaining a big garden and canned much of her produce. She held a very special relationship with her son, Paul, who passed away unexpectedly in March 2003. Hilda became a resident of the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in March 2006.
Survivors include her sister, Wilma (Wayne) Vietz of Bismarck;
a special nephew, Jeff Vietz of Bismarck, nephew, Heinz Fueller & family of Stuttgart, Germany, niece, Claudia Schlinz & family of Germany; great niece, Jordan Vietz of Lexington, SC; and a special friend, Sherry Fueller of Turtle Lake.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son (Paul Alexander), and brother (Albert Fueller)
