Obituary
Herbert Holwagner, age 88 of Underwood, ND, formerly of Washburn, died Saturday, February 09, 2008 at the Prairieview Nursing Home in Underwood.
A private family service will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday at the Goetz Funeral Home Chapel in Washburn.
Interment will be held at Riverview Cemetery – Washburn, ND
Herbert Fred Holwagner was born March 8, 1919 at rural McClusky, ND, the son to Christ & Carrie (Brockel) Holwagner. He was reared on the family farm and attended rural school. He enlisted in the C.C.C. (Civilian Conservation Corps) in the early 1940's and worked in several states. Herb made his home in Washburn where he worked for several area farmers and on various construction projects. He became a resident of the Prairieview Nursing Home in April 2001. Herb will be remembered as a happy man that enjoyed joking around and telling stories of his past.
He is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Chris & Charelette Holwagner of Center, ND; eight sisters and two brothers-in-law, Hilda & Don Payette of Seattle, WA, Margie Recke of Seattle, WA, Viola Wilson of Billings, MT, Ellen Clifford of Minneapolis, MN, Leona & Dale Dawson of Tucson, AZ, Lydia Holwagner of Underwood, ND, Elsie Holwagner of Bismarck, ND, & Mary Murray of Sioux Falls, SD; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, & two brothers.
