Helen Stringer, 90, of Bismarck, ND, died August 17, 2015 at Sanford Health in Bismarck.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 21st at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 1143 N. 26th St., in Bismarck with Rev. Nadine Lehr officiating. Burial will be at 3:30 P.M. Friday in the Van Hook Cemetery, rural New Town, ND. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at Lord of Life Lutheran Church with a 7:30 P.M. prayer service.
Helen was born December 11, 1924 on her grandmother's farm near Van Hook Township, Mountrail County, ND to Fred & Cora (Landaker) Waller. She attended rural school and as a young girl worked at the Elam dairy farm. Helen married Robert Stringer on May 16, 1942 in Sidney, MT. They lived on the Stringer farm for one year before moving to Hartford City, IN. They moved to Sanish, ND and later lived in Vancouver, WA. They returned to Sanish, ND and later moved their home into New Town, ND. Helen enjoyed sewing, gardening, and canning. She also enjoyed camping and raising her four children. Helen sold Avon and Mary Kay products, and also sold World Book Encyclopedias. She was very proud of her work building circuit boards for Northrop-Grumman in New Town and received many accolades for her hard work. Helen was an excellent seamstress and made or altered all of her daughters' wedding dresses. Following their retirement in 1982, they moved to Texas for a short time where Robert passed away in 1983. Helen moved to Washburn, ND where she resided until 1996. She then moved to Bismarck where she has resided that past 19 years.
Helen is survived by one son, David (Lynn) Stringer of Duluth, MN; three daughters, Carolyn (Lynn) Auck of Coleharbor, ND, Kathy (Milton) Sayler of Underwood, ND, & Carrie (Robert) Olson of Mandan, ND; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, & 14 great-great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Betty Waller of Coon Rapids, MN; one brother-in-law, Dave Glassel of Spring, TX; and many nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Robert), 3 brothers (Alvin, Floyd, & Marvin), & 2 sisters (Violet & Eileen).
