Harvey was born to Harold and Elsie (Walcker) Sellon on December 7, 1944. The only time he might have been on time for something (running on Sellon time). He was the only boy of four siblings. They finally decided on his name after they needed one to complete his ration card. He grew up on the family farm West of Turtle Lake, ND. He started attending school at the age of four due to wanting to be with his big sister Goot (Marilyn) in a little country school right next to the farm until 5 th grade. He then completed his high school diploma in 1961 at Turtle Lake Public School. After graduation Harvey worked for a cable company for a brief period before returning home to farm with his parents. Harvey met Sharon for the first time her junior year. They met up again a year later during roller skating. On June 3 rd , 1967 Harvey married the love of his life Sharon Rust. He proposed to her at Big Boy in Bismarck after he could not wait any longer and wanted to see the ring on her finger. They resided on the family homestead where Harvey farmed and ranched. They had 6 children, numerous foster children, even more grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Harvey was their biggest cheerleader in all aspects of their lives. Harvey loved animals and raised every kind on the farm. He had a special place in his heart for his dog Dexter "Killer". Dexter went everywhere with him. Harvey and Sharon moved off the family homestead and into Turtle Lake in 2019.
In his lifetime Harvey held many small jobs in conjunction with farming/ranching. He worked as a lineman during "The Big Ice Storm", at the livestock yard, Pennacle, and construction. When he retired from farming, he started driving truck. He also was part of the Rural Turtle Lake Fire Department.
Harvey enjoyed every aspect of life and lived it to the fullest. Some of the things he loved most were hunting, fishing, horseshoes, sports, and most of all cards and the lights of a casino. He played men's volleyball, basketball, bowling, and his favorite men's slow pitch softball. Harvey was a member of the Turtle Lake Jaycee's and president several times. He also enjoyed the Brush Poppers Horse Club where he served as a board member and president. He worked hard to bring rodeos to Brush Lake. He loved fireworks, "Big Bertha", and putting on a show every 4 th of July. He loved doing all these things, but he loved doing them with his family most of all.
Harvey never met a person he did not talk to; he never forgot a name or their story. He enjoyed being around people and was always one of the last ones to leave.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon of Turtle Lake; his son, Shane (Dawn) Sellon of Turtle Lake; his daughters, Shelby (Jake) Tweeten of Turtle Lake, Tonya (Mark) Papka of Sidney, MT, Karakae (Jasen) Reiser of Turtle Lake, Trisha (Jesse) Eckroth of Bismarck, ND; his 18 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; his sisters, Marilyn (Ken) Sondrol of Turtle Lake, Virginia (John) Dowd of Haddonfield, NJ and Vicky (Todd) Jueth of Bismarck and many nieces and nephews.
Harvey was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Travis and a granddaughter, Tiffany Green.
