Harley Dean Halvorson, 74, of Turtle Lake, ND, died June 10, 2023 in Sanford Health, Bismarck.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Turtle Lake with Pastor Steve Vetter officiating.  Burial will be in the St. Olaf Lutheran Cemetery.  Visitation will be held for 1 hour before the services at the church.

Harley was born on June 5, 1949 in Minot, ND, the son of Harold & Dagny (Anderson) Halvorson.  He attended country school at Whiprud School for six years and graduated from Turtle Lake High School in 1967.  He also attended the ND State School of Forestry and NDSU where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture.  He served in the United States Army for 3 years.  Following his discharge, he returned to farm on the family farm where he raised pigs, cattle, sheep and horses.

Harley married Janet "Jan" Dillman on May 31, 2002 at St. Edwin's Catholic Church in Washburn.  Following their marriage they continued to live and farm northwest of Turtle Lake until his death.

He enjoyed working with his horses and attending auction sales.   He was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and the Turtle Lake American Legion.

Harley is survived by his wife, Janet "Jan" of Turtle Lake, ND; step son, Bob (Mandi) Wagner of Mandan, ND; step daughters:  Carrie (James) Mandigo of Bismarck, ND and Cassie (Ben) Podoll of Minot, ND; five step grandchildren:  Tyrell Bondy, Clay Wagner, Mallory, Jayden and McKenna Podoll; his brother, Eldon (Diane) Halvorson of Kenmare, ND; niece, Kristi and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Eric Halvorson.
