Hampton H. Breeding, age 83 of Riverdale, ND passed away Friday, July 2nd at the Garrison Memorial Hospital.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, July 6th at Goetz Funeral Home Chapel in Underwood with Pastor Alan Hathaway officiating.
Burial will be in the Underwood Cemetery with military rites provided by the American Legion Post 133 of Turtle Lake.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to time of service on Tuesday.
Hampton Harrison Breeding was born April 29, 1927 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, a son to Jacob & Alma (Carter) Breeding. He attended high school in Keystone, OK and enlisted in the U.S. Army on July 10, 1946. Hampton served nine months in Korea and was honorably discharged on August 12, 1947. In 1949, he moved to North Dakota and became employed with the Corps of Engineers at the Garrison Dam in 1951. Hampton married Myrtle G. Sayler on May 15, 1955 in Underwood. They made their home in Riverdale for many years where he was active with the Riverdale Fire & Ambulance Department for 30 years. He, along with Leo Silbernagel, also operated the local Trap Range for many years. Hampton retired from the Corps of Engineers in July 1986. In August 1986, he went to work for the City of Riverdale where he was employed for over nine years. An Oklahoman at heart, he grew to love North Dakota and its wide open spaces. His favorite time of the year was the Spring season. Hampton's family knew him as a very kind, honest, and generous man that was always willing to help people. His family and friends could see and feel his love for the Lord. He touched many hearts and left his family with many wonderful memories.
He is survived by his wife, Myrtle (Sayler) Breeding of Riverdale; daughter, Nora (Gary) Meacham of Columbus, OH; son, Neal Breeding of North Dakota; daughter, Fern Keller of Bismarck; eleven grandchildren & ten great-grandchildren; one brother, John P. Breeding of Hereford, AZ; niece, Annie (Bruce) Stevens of Sierra Vista, AZ; and son-in-law, Tom Perry of Florida.
Hampton was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter (Lois Perry)
