Obituary

Gregory "John" Esser, 72, Moore, ID died February 24, 2015 at his residence in Moore. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM Friday, March 6, 2015 at St. Bonaventure's Catholic Church in Underwood, ND. Officiating will be Father Patrick Cunningham. Interment will be held in the Coleharbor Cemetery, rural Coleharbor. Visitation and Vigil service will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday at the church.

Gregory "John" was born September 10, 1942 in Minot, North Dakota, the son of Lawrence and Barbara (Schneider) Esser. John, the second oldest of eight children, grew up on the family farm. He spent his child hood helping out on the farm, milking 30 cows each day. He completed all twelve grades in a small school house. John entered the working world at age 16. He started out in construction and later taught welding classes. He attended college and earned an Associate's Degree.

On June 25, 1963 he married, Darlyne Jane Nelson, following thier marriage, they lived in North Dakota with their four children. John and Darlyne were later divorced. John continued to live in North Dakota until moving to Arco, Idaho on August 2, 1985. He always wanted to live near the mountains. John married Shannon Lee and together they lived in Idaho. John was the owner and operator of Esser Electric since 1989. He loved his work as an electrician and contractor, constructing many area businesses, including cellular tower sites.

John is a 50 year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, .
John was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church and a member of The Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree.

He enjoyed working, hunting, fishing, the outdoors and gardening. John was a hard working man, who loved to help others.

John died February 24, 2015 at his home in Moore, Idaho.

John is survived by his wife, Shannon Lee, of Moore, Idaho; two sons, Gordon Esser of Coleharbor, North Dakota and Johnny and Misty Esser of Burley, Idaho and two grandsons, Brandon and Triston; three sisters, Darlene and Dave Barnett of Minot, Lorayne and Dennis Slaga of Cornell, MI and Rosemary and Arthur Grosz of Casper, WY.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Gregory Allen; one daughter, Treasure Lilly; three sisters: Marge, Patricia and Mary Ann and one brother, Lawrence.
